Until he passed away at the tender age of 104 in 2012, the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer was still actively working and designing new objects. One of his trademarks and personal preferences – the use of curvy lines – can be found back in many of his works, among which the Contemporary Art Museum in Niteroi – also likened to a UFO – situated across the bay of Rio de Janeiro. By the use of abstract forms and unconventional lines he managed to create an elegant, harmonious and impressive piece of architecture.
